There aren’t loads of places to eat in Nusa Penida, so we have written a guide on some of the best we found…
Nusa Penida is a lot less developed than it’s neighbouring Bali. That, unfortunately, means that there are not as many yummy restaurants.
Luckily we did find a few pleasant places to eat in Nusa Penida that didn’t break the bank.
Vegan & Vegetarian
Name: The Gallery
Location: Jln. Raya Bodong, Klungkun, 80771, Ped, Nusapenida, Klungkung Regency
Price for two: 100,000Rp (£5.80/$7.20 US)
The Gallery has a somewhat basic menu but offers great vegan and vegetarian options. The cafe is open every day and food is cooked fresh to order. WiFi is available for customers and there is a shop selling locally produced items. We ordered two coca colas, a portion of pasta and sandwich and paid 100,000Rp.
Jungle Vibes
Name: Tarzan Resto
Location: Ped, Nusapenida, Klungkung Regency, Bali 80771
Price for two: 205,000Rp (£11.80/$14.70 US)
Surrounded by lush jungle, this open-aired restaurant has both international and Indonesian cuisine on offer. There is also a pool you can take a dip in while sipping on a fresh coconut!
We ordered two mains, a milkshake and a large beer and paid 205,000Rp. The portion sizes were a little small for us, so if you’re really hungry, it might be worth ordering more than just a main dish each. If you’re a milkshake fan you’ve got to try their vanilla milkshake – it was so yummy!

Penida Espresso was the perfect breakfast spot, with a large choice of drinks from coffees to smoothies, juices and milkshakes. The menu offered classics such as eggs, pancakes and french toast, but is most famous for their instagrammable smoothie bowls. We paid 140,000Rp for a fresh orange juice, iced vanilla latte, banana pancake and a chia seed pudding.
Local family-run warung
Name: Warung Tu Pande
Location: Sakti, Nusapenida, Klungkung Regency, Bali 80771
Price for two: 195,000Rp (£11.20/$14 US)
Warung Tu Pande Spring rolls at Warung Tu Pande Calamari at Warung Tu Pande Grilled prawns on the BBQ at Warung Tu Pande
For a local family-owned restaurant experience, Warung Tu Pande is lovely. They have a large menu with vegetarian-friendly options, BBQ fresh seafood and a couple of western dishes. While we were there it was busy, and it deserves to be! As it’s not very big, you may have to share a big table with other guests but it’s not an issue at all! The prices were fair and the service was extremely friendly. We ordered spring rolls to start, calamari and grilled king prawn (cooked fresh on the BBQ). Matt had a large beer and I had a small mineral water. We paid 195,000Rp for everything.

For beautiful dinner views overlooking the ocean and Mount Agung, Warung Pondok is where you should go! There’s a great atmosphere and a cocktail bar if you fancy a cheeky drink.
We ordered a mango daiquiri, small beer and two Coca-Cola’s to drink. Food-wise we had tofu spring rolls to share, vegetarian cap cay, and fried fish. The bill came to 253,000Rp.

The Safe Bet
Name: Warung Coco Leaf
Location: Jalan Raya Ped, 80771
Price for two: 245,000Rp (£14/$17.60 US)
Spring rolls at Coco Leaf Nasi Goreng at Coco Leaf Mie Goreng at Coco Leaf
Despite being located off the busy road, Warung Coco Leaf has made an effort to create a nice atmosphere in their outdoor seating area. The wooden bench seats are surrounded by plants, making for a relaxing environment.
The menu is vast with many options to choose from. We ordered an avocado shrimp tower and some spring rolls to start. For mains, we had a Nasi Goreng and a Mie Goreng. I had an orange juice, but would not recommend it as it was a bit watery. Matt had beer.
