Who needs a Chinese takeaway? This healthy Turkey Yuk Sung recipe has all you need to satisfy those cravings, without leaving you feeling guilty.

Serves 4

Yuk Sung with prawn crackers and chilli sauce

Ingredients:

1 tbsp sesame oil

1 tsp coconut oil

400g turkey mince

120g finely chopped mushrooms

1 large onion finely chopped

2 garlic cloves

2 carrots finely chopped

Salt and pepper

2tsps Ground ginger

1 tsp Ground coriander

1tsp Dried Coriander leaf

2 tsp 5spice

2 tbsp oyster sauce

1 tbsp dark soy sauce

1/2 tbsp fish sauce

1 tsp coconut palm sugar

2 baby gem lettuce’s

Method:

  1. Heat a large frying pan and add the sesame oil and coconut oil, before introducing the onion garlic and carrot.
  2. Once softened, add the turkey mince and break it up with a wooden spoon to avoid large clumps.
  3. Whilst the turkey is cooking add the dried ginger, five spice, ground coriander and dried coriander leaf. Add salt & pepper to personal taste.
  4. Reduce the heat and add in the chopped mushrooms, oyster sauce, dark soy, fish sauce and palm sugar. Mix and leave to bubble away for 3-4 minutes until everything is cooked through.
  5. Serve by filling the lettuce cups with the Yuk Sung mixture.

Serving suggestions:

For some added crunch, try adding broken up prawn crackers, or crushed peanuts to the top of each serving.

If you prefer it spicy, top with hot chilli sauce, or crushed chilli flakes to add a kick.
